We have been discussing putting our own daily driver R56 Mini's together for a while now, so we thought it was about time we got searching for the right base car, with a Diesel very high on the list, mainly due to its 60+ MPG return as well as the ridiculously cheap £20 road tax a year makes it a very appealing car to daily around whist showing off the product we manufacture and sell for these little bundles of joy.

The first thing we have had to do is get in search mode for the right base model Cooper D and we didn’t just get one pop up, we managed to get two, both great colours with great spec,. We now have in the fleet an 07 pastel blue, with a white roof and mirrors, and a beautiful cream R56 07 plate with matching half leather interior, panoramic roof and every electric option you can think of.

The first job will be to paint the flares ready for fitting and then fitted with our choice of wheel, as our own dedicated flow-form wheel is ready yet and won’t be for a while we have been scouring the market for a 9” wheel in either 16” or 17” size with 3SDM coming to the rescue with their 5.0 design in 9x16 and our desired offset, its a great looking wheel and come with a huge concave profile, so will suit the look of the build to perfection, a white set will adorn the blue Mini and a black set will be fitted to the cream both fitted with 245/45R16 tyres front and rear

Our wheels of choice will be the 3SDM 5.0 9X16, with its deep concave profiled face and low offset, itst he perfect wheel design for the look we are after.

Each car will be de-chromed and have the windows tinted by our good friends over at 1st Choice Tints, who has the task of getting rid of all that chrome bling around the windows, lights, grill and boot lid , we cant wait to bring you the transformation.

Our R56 Mini aero kit programme is going from strength to strength as our flares seem to be finding their way on to some pretty epic builds, Gary Adams who is based in Florida is a personal favourite, we just love what Gary has done and the plans he has in store for his amazing cooper S, with his wheel upgrade happening over the next couple of weeks its going to be worth a revisit.

Next up to mini wow us is this little pocket rocket from Italy that belongs to Mauro Abdel Nour of P3M, Mauro contacted us a few weeks back regarding a new set up he wanted on his time attack Mini cooper-s, as he wanted a wider track so was looking for a wider fenders and ours fitted the bill perfectly and just what he had in mind, we wasted no time in producing a couple of sets for his up and coming race season, but I can honestly say we didn’t expect it to turn out quite like this little bundle of joy pictured here, he has taken the look to a whole new level, its extreme to the point of mini perfection.

We already knew that Mauro had ordered his wheel set up from ATS and we also knew it was going to be a pretty aggressive width and offset, but he was quietly confident it would all work and we have to say he was spot on as those ATS GTR’S with the negative -5 offset fill our fenders to the absolute maximum and just look at it, its an absolute stunner, we are really looking forward to the P3M crew this season as they hit the Italian time attack series in anger.

For every set of R56 mini flares we sell we are asked about the wheels and what wheels can be used. The problem when you add extra width to your build you need a wider wheel and tyre set up, even our R56 flares add a couple of inches that need to be filled with a wheel. The wheel width needed for our particular flare is a 9" wheel with a bespoke offset front and rear in either a 16" or 17" sizes and that's where the problem lies, you have to look at a 2 or a 3 piece wheel set up for those types of widths and the required offsets, or use a narrower wheel with a large hub-centric spacer set up, and neither are ideal, the multipiece wheel route is expensive, and a slimmer wheel and spacer is the cheaper option but defeats the purpose

Trying to find a 1 piece wheel with the correct width and offset that will work with the conversion has been a bit of a headache, even for us has been an impossibility to find, we have come close but unfortunately no cigar, that is until now, and we are extremely pleased to be able to offer a 1 piece super light weight wheel, that you can not only use on the road, but also use on the track, available in the correct size, width and offsets for our wide flare conversion, so no need for a spacer or the expensive 2 or 3 piece option, at the moment its only available in the 17" size with either an 8.5x17 or 9x17 widths, that can be fitted with either 234/40R17, 245/40R17 or 255/40R17, all great combinations and can be used with the selected widths we have listed, we can also supply tyres at super competitive prices.
