It has been a long time coming, but we got there in the end, a four page "FASTCAR" magazine feature of the awesome Carbonzilla GTR belonging to our good friend Jan Schekman.

I must say on a personal level, Jan has worked meticulously hard on this build, getting the car exactly how he wanted it, he could of took the easy option, become a Lemming, followed the crowd and just built either a Liberty Walk or Rocket Bunny over fendered riveted GTR, but that’s not what Jan is about, he wanted the exact opposite, so thats what he built.

VAD CR EVO, Liquid Bronze, with Carbon Fibre Outer Rim

Rear View, Carbonzilla 75mm wider each side over the stock GTR, with the Swan Neck Voltex Rear #lordofthewings

We were extremely surprised no American publication showed an interest in getting this beauty featured, first up it’s a very quick GTR which has been lightly breathed upon with performance goodies, with the added bonus of being smothered in Carbon, and not JUST the usual hood, splitter & diffuser either, the complete car apart from the doors and the roof have been hit with the black gold, and 7" wider than a stock GTR, a pure work of art, so what is not to like, but as they say …their loss, is a Fastcar Magazine gain.

We would like to thank Jules the Editor for making this one happen, a true car enthusiast and petrol head, so a phone call with accompanying photos ,he made it happen, all we had to do was wait a few weeks to get the right slot, if you read the publication, you will know that a modded wide body GTR is quite a popular feature in Fastcar, but not a full blown wide body carbon fibre version.

The magazine is on sale now, it’s also available as a digital download, its well worth a read, and couldn’t come at a better time, happy belated birthday and a very happy Christmas Jan, you deserve this my good friend.

* Special thank you to Larry from #Hafast Photography, for the killer pictures.

The aeropack is available in Carbon Fibre and FRP from stock, the kit consists of the following parts:

Front Bumper, front splitter, front wider fenders, side skirts, rear quarter panels, rear bumper.

Optional extras: Vented hood, rear wing, rear diffuser, coilover suspension, Exhausts, forged 3 Piece wheels in either 13x20 or 13x21 sizes and widths.

Its been a while since we have blogged about the BPA Body shop VADZilla GTR build, as Ben has been extremely busy with his work load, so his personal project got side line, unfortunately it happens, we have had exactly the same problem this year with our own Z4 GT3 V8 project, customers cars and work take preference over personal builds, It’s just the nature of the business, but we are happy to report Ben has found some spare time and put a good few days into getting the car finish, well certainly when it comes to the paint.

Its been a wish to see this conversion finished in white, we must admit we were hoping to see the hood painted white too, but with a carbon hood it’s a difficult choice for some, personally we aren’t the exposed carbon fans, its still carbon under the paint and exposed carbon has been done to death, but Bens choice, and one we respect.

One area which will be a little hit and miss is the black stripe through the rear panel, from light to light, personally we like it, but there has been a bit of mixed reaction to the pictures we have shared on our social network, but we applaud Ben for building the car how he wants it to look.

This is one car we are looking forward to seeing in all its glory when winter has been and gone.

The aero kit is available from stock in either FRP or Carbon fibre, with a huge list of options, email us for more details on our wide body GTR programme. enquiries@vaddesign.com

A couple of years back we built a GTR with one of our carbon fibre wide body conversions, it was a build that divided not only internal opinions but at the time the company too, maybe one day in the near future, along with our RWB story the truth will be told, but for now, let’s discuss this incredible wide body GTR.

VAD Wide Body GTR

The colour of the car, along with the wheel design and finish, are the perfect GTR ingredient, add then the wide body, and 13x21 boots wrapped with 345/25R21 tyres and you have one special vehicle, I don’t know what we were thinking when we added the yellow decals, but hey not all of us at VAD have bad taste, it was an error and one the customer agreed with, and has since rectified, we are happy to say.

With all of our builds, its always nice to keep in-touch and meet up from time to time with the customers that buy the cars, and hear the feedback, especially when Trevor and Deborah’s other cars, are a Ferrari 458 Spider & the latest 550 bhp Range Rover Sport SVR, but the car that brings him the most attention is the GTR, and seeing it again in the flesh we can see why, it’s a beauty from every angle.

The car is now for sale, it’s a 59 plate black, that is pushing over 700bhp, and has the full VAD wide body in carbon fibre, it sits on Meister coilover suspension, and has a full Meister sport exhaust system, all finished off with our 13x21 VAD CR Evo with a brushed matte bronze centre, with hidden hardware, in a spec 1 concave profile, all wrapped in 345/25R21 Hankook rubber.
