We have had a few very special GTR days of late as well as expanding our line of carbon fibre parts specifically for the MY17 and upwards, for the last couple of yeras we have been as for the latest GT3 style street front and rear bumpers upgrades, but that’s for another day, as the GTR that has given us the thrills over that last couple of weeks is the Purple beauty we built back in 2014, its returned and to say we are excited is a bit of an understatement.

We really should dislike this GTR immensely, as when the car was constructed its caused various in-house business related management issues, of which we will blog abaout at some point over the coming months, but as they say something good comes out of something bad and for us this car is proof of that is fact as this is one GTR we have a huge softspot for and who can blame us ... just look at it.

When the car was sold back in 2014 it headed down to Dorsett and pretty much went off the radar for a few years, it did resurface in 2018 when owner Steve got in touch looking for some modifications he was considering, as well as wanting recomendations for a paint specialist, with Lee from LA paintworks in Milton Keynes our firm recomendation for that bit of love and affection, it also gave us the chance to meet up with Steve to dicuss the modifications he was considering, which unfortuantly never materialised.

A few months later we were very surprised to see the car advertised for sale at The Motoring Team, but it was good seeing the purple beauty back on our daily media feeds, with the TMT tagging us on every post they did and looking just as good as the day it was built thanks to the guys at LA Paint and it and it wasn’t long before the car was sold with the potential owner reaching out asking us all about the GTR, we're happy to report two weeks later Matt Straughan purchased the GTR and is now the proud new owner and we couldn’t be happier, at last the car now has an owner who will get the car out and about, its one very unique GTR and one that deserves the limelight.

We don’t think Matt had the car a week and he hit Knight Racer, with Albert Wong caressing the power adding their in-house KR650 tune, so it now has the power to match those astonishingly good looks, all kept under control with the Meister coilover suspension, we have a feeling this power upgrade is merely the starting point, with more to come in the future.

So what is in store for this Carbon fibre wide body beauty, well to be honest it really doesn’t need much enhancing, the colour and the look of the car is absolutly perfect, the wheels are as new as the GTR sits on our light weight 3 piece forged VAD CR Evo in size 12x21 front and 13x21 rear, wrapped in 345/25R21 rubber , although there will be a few tasteful carbon fibre upgrades in the future including a rear wing at some point, we feel thats all the car needs, but as you can see from the stunning photoshoot done by LP Media this car just oozes attention, Lucian showing his incredible lens skills capturing some of the best photos we have seen of this wide body GTR and the good thing is he is a man for hire, find his details at the bottom of this post and tell him the guys at VAD sent you.

The most satisfying part of building a car is seeing it completed and out in the public eye, being in the hands of a petrol head is a bonus, Matt is active within the car scene and will use the car as it should be used, car shows, cruises, photoshoots, as a car like this needs to be seen up close and personal and we are just ecstatic that a guy like Matt has ended up with one of our builds.

Lets hope 2021 we have plenty of car shows to make up for the 2020 right off, so we can once again drool over this rather epic machine, well done Matt and welcome to the VAD family.

The Nissan GTR has been a huge part of our aero line for the last few years, dating back to 2012 when we constructed what must have been one of the very first carbon fibre wide body GTR packages, fitted with 13x21 forged 3 piece VAD VF1 wheels 345/25R21 tyres, Meister coilover suspension, all finished off with 680 HP engine upgrade and titanium exhaust, we certainly arrived in style even if we do say so ourselves.

Various builds of the VAD Wide Body GTR

As soon as that particular GTR hit the streets it sold almost straight away, in 2013 we constructed a second Carbon fibre wide body GTR, this time round we painted it purple, it was around this time we parted company with the Wellingborough body shop as that GTR again found a new owner, over the last few years we have honed the parts and grew the carbon range whilst adding a new wide body aero pack in the form of our favourite GT3 style, the style that dates back to the 2013 / 2014, with the functional and aggressive vents that adorn most of the panels fitted to the GTR, this for us is the ultimate GTR and we have most parts available in carbon fibre as well as woven roving with is a cloth based fibre glass, which is a super light and super strong material that is a cheaper option than the carbon fibre material that the kit is available in.

As well as the main aero panels, we also have a few race options that we have listed as extras, with all of the race parts they are only available in carbon fibre.

Replace carbon fibre roof, front bumper canards, Vented GT3 style bonnet, light weight GT3 Style boot lid with rear wing assembly, supports, wing & end plates, light weight carbon doors with quick release hinges.

To ass to our GTR line up we have a range of super lightweight magnesium wheels in 18” 19” & 20” sizes in 1, 2 & 3 piece with a super hybrid carbon fibre barrelled, magnesium centre 2-piece wheel.

Inconel exhaust and special coilover suspension from the JRZ stable ..2020 may be the time we build another road going GTR, this one will be big and better than our previous builds … it’s time for the Ichiban GT3 VAD GTR

A selection of our road and race carbon fibre parts for the Nissan GTR, we are currently working on MY17 to MY20 Carbon Fibre parts for 2020 so get in touch for furthe rdetails of our ever expanding range for Nissans finest.

Global time attack builds and the costs to win must be enormous, just the engine side alone you have to invest crazy money, being does not mean much if you have not got the handling to match all that power, you need good suspension and good aero, which is why there is an increase on light weight aero parts, you only have to look at some of the creations of WTAC in Sydney Australia to see the cars just more radical every year, they look and sound crazy and they all have one aim... winning.

We have started to get more involved with the supply of our carbon parts over the last couple of years, we have a few Porsche 997 GT3R around the globe as well as a few Porsche 996 and one build we were extremely pleased y to be involved with was the amazing GTR of David Haagsma, we featured the car a few weeks back and its one very impressive build, the SP Engineering engine tune alone is the best part of $40,000, if not more, then you have the trick JRZ Suspension set up, carbon brakes and other radical areas of build, so when David came calling for our carbon fibre Ichiban aero kit, we were happy to get involved.

Global Time Attack Ichiban GTR, under construction at SicChops for David Haagsma

The kit consists of the usual suspects of body work you need to create the a wider look, so front and rear bumpers, front fenders rear quarters as the most popular panels supplied, our front splitter is the complete front floor, as is the rear diffuser, albeit David used an RHR diffuser than Scott from SicChops mated up to our rear bumper set up.

Another neat touch we love about David's GTR is the huge bonnet vents he has added to his Seibon standard look oem style carbon bonnet, they are huge and there are a lot of them which makes for a very angry looking front end, its very intimidating to look at, to finish off the aero David has added a huge rear wing assembly from the APR crew, with a set of 18" slicks complete the build.

We look forward to seeing David hit the track, and if previous years are anything to go by, then his competition should worry, as he will take some stopping when he finally gets out on circuit.

We are now looking to jump on-board with the Australian crew from The Lowdown and one of there friends and customers who are looking to put together one serious GTR for the WTAC next year, so our light weight Ichiban is now under consideration for the main aero parts for this crazy up and coming build.
