We have been a little busy lately and have so many new products to discuss, t’s difficult to know where to start. With our amazing Z4 GT3 V8 now residing at our composite partners BAMD, this freed up our personal work load, as this is the company demo car that is being built to showcase what our collaboration brand Aspect GT can do, it’s a project that has not only take huge sums of money, but also a lot of our time. It still has a fair way to go, but it couldn't be in better hands than Adam the owner of BAMD Composites, he has a plan and will execute that plan to perfection, so that now allowed us to look after our new range of Forged wheels that we are happy to say I will be producing in Europe. We have decided to move production for a number or reasons, the first being we have been extremely loyal to a lot of the American brands over the last 10 or 15 years and unfortunately it’s not reciprocated, all we will say is unfortunately volume and turn over mean very little. We also want proper tested wheels with JAL, JWL, VIA & TUV certification, this is something American manufacturers can’t don’t or won’t offer, just having the product FET tested is no longer acceptable, we have lots of designs in all forged profiles and configurations, in all sizes, finishes and applications we will cover our new wheel line in a separate blog post at a later date.

Porsche 997 Bi Turbo "R" completed at Sleepers Speed Shop

One build we do want to discuss is our 997 “R” As one of our Porsche 997 Turbo “R” projects comes to a finish in California by our friends at Sleepers Speed Shop, our next bit of Porsche excitement is working with our good friend Speedwells. We have known Iby for such a long time, he is very much part of the VAD family, so we are pleased he has decided to build his dream car in the form of the Porsche 997 Turbo and fit the VAD GT3R aero pack, his 800 bhp wide body Supra known all over the world, so we can only imagine this Porsche build it going to be a pretty spectacular build, I just can’t wait to spec and build his next set of wheels for this up and coming build, it’s going to be a very exciting build to be involved with.

Keeping on the Porsche theme, we have finally manage to source one of our favorite ever Porsche products, the Kremer 935 K3 conversion and we are super stoked, it’s a huge conversion and a must for any 930 or 964 owner looking for something a little different, it’s the pinnacle conversion and the parts list is vast., and one conversion we would love to see on the UK roads.

Kremer 935 K3 can be based on 930 or 964 Porsche Chassis click the link to view the K3 , this is one very special conversion, one we would love to see on the street.

Another update on our Porsche parts is for the 996 chassis, we now have the RSR XXL wide body aero pack, it has a more aggressive font bumper, with vented front fender tops and houses 11” front wheels and 13” rear, this has not been added to our 996 aero product range.

Porsche 996 RSR XXL wide body

Whilst we are discussing all things Porsche, we are soon to launch an all new wide body Cayman programme, which we will cover in an up and coming post. Email the team with any enquiries we will be more than happy to assist.

In our line of business with the products we offer, we get to not only ship our parts all around the world, we also get to work with some great people on their fantastic builds, and just recently our customer Yann Boivin who resides in Dubai completed his stunning RSR Inspired 997 Turbo.

VAD VM1 10x20>265/30R20 Front, 13x20>345/25R20 Rear

Yann made contact with us mid part of 2016 about building a wide body Porsche 997, based on his Turbo with his inspiration coming not just from the race series Porsche GT3 RSR, but the VAD RSR Turbo 650R build we did in 2013, although It a personal build we like to forget about, because it wasn’t built to a standard we have always strived for, the paint work wasn’t the best, we used a very cheap, poor quality FRP RSR kit, the fit was appalling, and the wheel build was to extreme, with our initial idea was to build a race looking Porsche 997 RSR, we build a stance cambered RSR, modifying the front bumper that gave the car a silly looking smile, if we had our time over again building an RSR turbo, it would be done totally different, as we will showcase when we start to construct our new Porsche 997 build, the GT3R bi-turbo, but we will cover that in another post when our build starts.

VAD VM1 10x20>265/30R20 Front, 13x20>345/25R20 Rear

Yann had a few niggles along the way, mainly with the body shop he chose, but with a new recommendation and his vison and determination still in full flow, his dream build has now hit the street, and its one very special looking 997 Turbo.

His wheel choice from day one was to fit our VAD VF1 3 piece forged concave wheels as seen on our original demo, but they wouldn’t be as extreme, and they would be a completely tyre set up and colour combo, with Matte brushed bronze, with brushed silver hardware, 10x20 > 265/30R20 front and 13x20 > 345/25R20 rear sitting on custom coilover suspension, the finish and colour of the wheel suit the beautiful Metallic Khaki green to absolute perfection.

We have a full range of professional photos heading our way over the next few weeks, so check back in for details as they will be uploaded to our blog and VAD fitted vehicle gallery.

So we kick off our 2017 year in style with our tuning partners in South Africa Scribante Racing and their awesome Porsche 997 Turbo GT3R Build for the new race season, and boy oh boy these guys are not messing about, this is one serious 997 build, let’s hope they have some competition with the other teams that will line up next to these guys on the grid for the national supercar series, it’s going to be a pretty epic race season, and one we can't wait to follow and report on.

So with the first week of January well under way the aero pack had finally landed in Johannesburg, and the boys wasted zero time getting the kit in place ready for prepping and installation, even the roof has come in for some light weight carbon, with the lightweight carbon doors and polycarbonate windows still in manufacturing process, as they leave no stone unturned in the search of a lightweight race car, with speed to match.

The engine is from the Turbo S model, that has had some serious modification, as well as the race gearbox, with the suspension, upright and hubs coming straight off a Cup race car, with AP brakes supplying the stoppers & discs, just looking at all of the parts being thrown at this build is making our mouth water.

The wheel choice come from our long term wheel partner AG Wheels, as we work hand in hand with them. Scribante wanted was a multispoke wheel, a design similar to the old lemans style Porsche race wheels, so the 10 spoke race look F120 was the design of choice, with centre lock configuration, in 12x18 front and 13x18 rear that will be shod with 18” race slicks 30/65R18 front and 31/70R18 Rear.

The body work consists of a lot of part, with all the standard parts:

Front Bumper, Front splitter, front canards, front vented fenders, side skirts, rear quarter panels, rear bumper, rear diffuser.

They also wanted the full optional extras, to reduce as much weight as possible, whilst adding as much down force to the car as possible.

Compete flat under floor panels, front and rear arch liners, roof section, rear engine cover, rear wing with supports and end plates, 12x18 & 13x18 centre locks wheels.

We will bring you more on the build as it takes shape over the next few weeks, as we get ready to start the process for a full road going version that will be prowling the streets of California, from track car to street car.
