A few months back we gave an insight into a build that was happening with a very special BMW M6, and at last we are pleased to say the car has hit the streets and has been out and about at various shows, it not 100% finished and we do know that the kit is still off and on the car, as the rear bumper extensions are still being worked on, as Joakim perfects the fitment he wants with the aero kit.

Personally we would of preferred the none riveted look, but that’s just our own opinion as we aren’t a huge fan of riveted kits, but kudos to Joakim as he has built this car himself and this was the look he wanted, which is what this build is about, we were quite skeptical with how this car was going to turn out when he ordered his 12x21 front and 15x21 rear VAD forged wheels, but we have to say he pulled it off, we look forward to seeing this build progress over the coming months, as we have no doubt he will make changes to perfect this one off wide body M6.

The VAD BMW Z4 (E89) has finally finished its first round of modifications with the completion of our crate LS3 6.3LTR V8 engine installation, coilover suspension, brake and exhaust upgrade and we must say its turned out looking pretty immense, Craig at Dynotorque has done a pretty spectacular job, the engine install looks like it came out of the factory with this engine in place it’s that neat and tidy, it looks at home with plenty of room over the original 2.5Ltr N52B25 engine, it sits much further back with better weight distribution, with the added fact it’s a much lighter unit, we can’t just wait to hit the street in this beast, it’s going to be a pretty radical looking machine out on the open roads.

For the next stage we will be making a few suspension adjustments and will be modifying the inner fenders especially at the rear to accommodate the much larger wheel and tyre fitment, so the 13x19 and 345/30 tyres will fit as they should without any rubbing under load, It’s a necessary mod for any modified car that is having a wide body install, then it will be off to Emerald for the final map and Can-Bus setup, and then she will be ready to head off down to our composite partners BAMD for the Aspect GT carbon body GT3 install, Adam can’t wait to get his hands on this beast, and we can’t wait for him to give this build his magic touch.

Its taken us two years to research exactly what was required, along with the final spec of what we wanted, we did consider the S65 BMW V8, but after a conversation with Craig who explained the pitfalls of going that route, but how simple the LS3 conversion as well as the cost implications, it seemed like a no brainer, our vision and dream of building the ultimate road going Z4 is almost complete, and although we will upset some purists out there, we just remind ourselves, we have built this car for us, and we are happy with the route we have taken with this build.

We will be blogging when the car is down at BAMD, so be sure to bookmark us and follow the progress as it happens.

First start up of the VAD BMW Z4 GT3 V8 LS3

Since our last blog post on our BMW Z4 GT3 V8 Project, its starting to move forward quite nicely, with the engine in and wiring being done, we have turned our attention to the exhaust system, with Craig putting his welding skill set to good use, this guy has some serious skills with a TIG welder in his hand, the welds are pure works of art, and the system looks absolutely brutal, full twin stainless set up, with one box in the centre, he mentioned a fruity sound last time we spoke, after seeing it up close and personal we now understand the meaning of fruity.

Another piece of the jigsaw landing this week was our 3 piece forged wheels from the AG factory, 10.5x19 and 13x19 AG F420 and the AGL23 both look amazing in the flesh, we think we choose extremely wisely with not only the designs, but the finish too.

Next on the long list of things to do, is the suspension and brake set up, we will report back as they hit our Z4.

Another little project we have kicked off this week, after a conversation with Steve Van Der Vorst from DLNG Designs , as we really want to run a set of his extremely cool motorsport themed race Turbo fans, we will discuss this in further detail in another blog, but Steve is as stoked to work on this project as we are having him on-board.

For any details on our Z4 V8 GT3 build, feel free to get in touch with us, we will be more than happy to assist, in any way we can.
